Privacy Policy
We treat your information the way we'd want a studio to treat ours. Plain, written, and never sold. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, where it goes, who can see it, and how you can exercise your rights.
1. What we collect
When you enquire through our contact form, we collect:
- Your name (first and last)
- Your email address
- Your phone number (optional, only if you provide it)
- The package you are interested in (Tribute, Signature Farewell, Legacy Documentary, or undecided)
- Your situation (terminal diagnosis, supporting a loved one, etc.)
- Your timeline (when you are hoping to begin)
- Your message (free text — what you tell us about your family)
- An optional consent to share your story checkbox (you can leave this unchecked)
We do not collect any data from you passively. We do not use cookies for tracking, advertising, or analytics on this website.
2. Why we collect it
We collect this information for one purpose: to respond to your enquiry and, if you decide to work with us, to deliver your film. We use the information you provide to:
- Reply to your message (within 24 hours, typically within one business day on weekdays)
- Understand your situation so we can give you appropriate advice
- Prepare a tailored proposal for the package you are interested in
- Coordinate filming, editing, and delivery of your project
We do not use your information for marketing, advertising, or any purpose unrelated to your enquiry or project.
3. Where it goes
Your enquiry is sent directly to our internal team via secure email and a private internal system. Specifically:
- Cloudflare Pages serves this website (static files only — no user data is processed by Cloudflare beyond standard HTTPS termination)
- Cloudflare Workers receives your form submission at the /api/contact endpoint
- Resend delivers the form submission email to our team's mailbox at contact@breakingricestudios.com
None of these services use your personal data for their own marketing, profiling, or advertising purposes. Your details are never sent to any third-party service that uses them for any other purpose than delivering the email to us.
4. Who can see it
Only the team members who are handling your story. We do not share your information with:
- Third-party marketers
- Partner studios (unless you specifically ask us to refer you)
- Analytics services that profile you
- Any other third party, ever
5. How long we keep it
Until you ask us to delete it. Specifically:
- Enquiry data — kept until you ask us to delete it, or for 2 years after your last contact, whichever comes first. Typically erased within 7 working days of your request.
- Raw footage from a completed project — held for 12 months in case of loss, then deleted unless you ask us to keep it longer.
- Edited film from a completed project — held indefinitely as a courtesy backup, unless you ask us to delete it.
6. Your rights under Hong Kong's PDPO
Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) gives you the following rights. Exercising any of these is free, and we will respond within 40 days as the law requires:
- Right of access — you can ask us what data we hold about you, and we will provide a copy
- Right of correction — you can ask us to correct any inaccurate data
- Right of deletion — you can ask us to delete your data, and we will do so (with the standard backups exception above)
- Right to opt out of direct marketing — we do not direct market, so this is not relevant, but the right exists

7. Cookies
This website does not use cookies for tracking, analytics, or advertising. We do not embed any third-party scripts that set cookies (no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no Hotjar, etc.). The only technical cookies that may be set are those required by Cloudflare for security and DDoS protection, which are functional and not used for tracking.
8. Children and vulnerable persons
This service is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a family member or guardian of a person whose information we hold, you may exercise their rights on their behalf.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated via the contact details you have provided us, with reasonable advance notice.
